circa 1860, with tapering round Enfield rifled 37in. barrel, flat sighting plane, adjustable tunnel fore-sight with interchangeable elements (only one provided), drilled for a rear-sight (now absent), plain knock-off breech with white metal plug, plain top-tang with extension piece mounting a period vernier diopter sight, plain bar-action lock with sliding safe forwards of the plain hammer, walnut full-length chequered pistol-grip stock, iron furniture including circular lidded patch-box to right hand side of butt, plain heel-plate, full-length lower tang, plain bow and finial, two iron barrel-bands, provision for nose-cap (missing) and brass-tipped jag-ended iron ramrod, the metalwork mostly stripped of finish
